Early Life and Education
MeganPlays was born Megan Elizabeth Leeds on March 17, 1995, in Texas, United States whee was raised alongside her twin sister, Kaitlyn Leeds.
After completing high school, Megan attended the University of Texas at Arlington, where she studied design and visual communications. Her background in design later became useful as her career expanded beyond YouTube into branding, merchandise and game development.
Her early interest in gaming eventually led her toward YouTube. In June 2014, she opened her YouTube channel and began experimenting with gaming content.
At the beginning of her career, she created videos around different games and gaming challenges. Building an audience took time, and her career did not become financially successful immediately.
Career
MeganPlays began her YouTube career in 2014. Her early gaming content included videos based on Minecraft, The Sims 4, Diablo and other games. She also created Let’s Play videos and gaming challenges as she built her audience.
During the earlier years of her career, Megan’s income from YouTube was relatively limited. However, her decision to focus more heavily on Roblox became a major turning point. She began creating Roblox content around games including Adopt Me!, Royale High and other role-playing experiences. Her energetic personality and entertaining approach helped her videos attract a much larger audience.
Megan eventually became one of the better-known female Roblox creators on YouTube. Her main channel, MeganPlays, grew to millions of subscribers and hundreds of millions of views. She later expanded her content through additional channels and projects, allowing her to reach audiences beyond her main gaming channel.
Megan also worked with other creators in the gaming community. One of her collaborations included the YouTube channel Girls Club, which she co-hosted with fellow gamer Leah Ashe. Her success as a creator eventually led her into entrepreneurship.
In 2020, Megan and Zach Letter founded Wonder Works Studio, a game development company focused on creating experiences for Roblox. The studio’s first major release, Overlook Bay, became a major success. The game let players explore a virtual world, collect pets, and build homes.
Overlook Bay’s success showed how Megan had transformed her online audience into a larger gaming business. The game generated more than $1.5 million in revenue during its first four months, although business revenue should not be confused with Megan’s personal income.
Wonder Works Studio later developed other projects, including Traitor. Through Wonder Works Studio, Megan has worked with people including Zach Letter, Joshua Mixon, Daniel Kolman, Francisco Zuniga, Benjy Kaplan and Ashytn Faith.
Megan also expanded her business interests through her merchandise brand, Stay Peachy. The brand sold clothing and other products connected to her online identity and generated substantial sales during its early growth. Her career has also included licensing opportunities and retail collaborations. In 2022, she launched a collection with Claire’s.
Personal Life
MeganPlays began dating fellow YouTuber and gamer Zach Letter in 2017. Their relationship became public through their social media and gaming careers. Zach proposed to Megan in Granada, Spain, in May 2018.
The couple married in 2019 and later became business partners through Wonder Works Studio. In February 2024, Megan and Zach announced that they were expecting their first child. They welcomed their daughter, Clover, in July 2024.
In late 2025, Megan announced that she and Zach were divorcing. Despite the end of their marriage, both remain associated with the business they built together through Wonder Works Studio.
