Early Life
Jimin was born and raised in Busan, South Korea. He developed an interest in dance while growing up and studied contemporary dance at Busan High School of Arts, where he became one of the school’s notable students.
He later auditioned for Big Hit Entertainment and became a trainee in 2012. After joining the company, he continued his education in Seoul and eventually graduated from Korean Arts High School in 2014.
Jimin also attended Global Cyber University, where he studied Broadcasting and Entertainment. He later pursued graduate studies at Hanyang Cyber University.
Career
Jimin made his official debut with BTS on June 13, 2013. The group, formed under Big Hit Entertainment, went on to become one of the biggest acts in global music.
As a member of BTS, Jimin became particularly recognized for his dancing and vocals. He also began developing his identity as a solo artist through individual tracks featured on BTS projects.
His BTS solo tracks include “Lie,” “Serendipity,” and “Filter.” He also released the self-written songs “Promise” and “Christmas Love” for fans.
Jimin began his official solo career in 2023 with FACE, his debut solo album. The project included “Set Me Free Pt. 2” and “Like Crazy.” “Like Crazy” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making Jimin the first South Korean solo artist to reach the top of the chart.

In July 2024, he released his second solo album, MUSE. The project included the singles “Smeraldo Garden Marching Band” featuring Loco and “Who,” with the latter becoming one of his biggest solo hits.
Jimin also completed his mandatory South Korean military service after enlisting alongside fellow BTS member Jung Kook in December 2023. He was officially discharged on June 11, 2025.

Jimin has generally kept his personal and romantic life private and has not publicly confirmed a current relationship.
His name became linked to actress Song Da-eun following dating speculation in 2025. BIGHIT MUSIC later clarified that the two had known each other with mutual feelings several years earlier but were not in a relationship at the time of the agency’s statement. The company also asked the public to respect their privacy.
