Dylan Sprouse Biography: Age, Height, Twin Brother, Wife, Daughter, Net Worth

Who Is Dylan Sprouse?

Dylan Sprouse is an American actor, entrepreneur, producer and podcast host best known for playing Zack Martin in the Disney Channel sitcom The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and its spin-off, The Suite Life on Deck.

He began acting as an infant alongside his identical twin brother, Cole Sprouse, and became one of the recognizable young actors of the 2000s.

Early Life and Education

Dylan Sprouse was born on August 4, 1992, in Arezzo, Tuscany, Italy, to American parents Matthew Sprouse and Melanie Wright. His family lived in Italy at the time because his parents worked there as teachers. The family returned to the United States when Dylan and his twin brother were still infants.

He grew up in Long Beach, California, alongside his identical twin brother, Cole Sprouse. Dylan is approximately 15 minutes older than Cole. The brothers began acting at a very young age, and their similar appearance allowed them to share roles in film and television.

Their parents, Matthew and Melanie, played an important role in managing their early careers. The brothers appeared together in commercials and acting projects before eventually becoming familiar faces on American television.

Dylan’s family background is primarily documented through his American upbringing and his parents’ identities. Although he was born in Italy, he is not Italian by nationality. His nationality is American, and his specific ethnic ancestry has not been sufficiently established through reliable public sources.

His most prominent immediate family member is Cole, who developed his own acting career and later became widely recognized for playing Jughead Jones in Riverdale. Although the twins have pursued different projects as adults, their early careers remain closely connected.

Dylan attended school while continuing to work as a child actor. After The Suite Life on Deck ended in 2011, he stepped away from regular acting work to focus on higher education.

He enrolled at New York University and studied at the Gallatin School of Individualized Study. He graduated in 2015 with a degree in video game design. His university years gave him a chance to explore interests beyond acting and develop skills that could support other creative and business pursuits.

Career

Dylan Sprouse began acting at about six months old. In his early years, he often shared roles with his twin brother, Cole Sprouse, because they looked almost identical. One of their early film appearances was in Big Daddy (1999), where they shared the role of Julian, a young boy adopted by Sonny Koufax, played by Adam Sandler. The film also featured Jon Stewart and Joey Lauren Adams.

The twins continued working together in productions such as The Astronaut’s Wife, Just 4 Kicks, I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus, and The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things. These projects helped them gain experience in film and television before their major breakthrough on Disney Channel.

Dylan’s career reached a new level in 2005 when he began playing Zack Martin in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. The sitcom followed twin brothers living in a hotel and getting into comic situations with hotel staff and guests. Dylan played the more mischievous Zack, while Cole portrayed the more academically focused Cody.

The series featured Brenda Song as London Tipton, Ashley Tisdale as Maddie Fitzpatrick, Phill Lewis as Mr. Moseby and Kim Rhodes as Carey Martin. These actors became central to the show’s popularity and later reunited with Dylan and Cole for the spin-off and related projects.

Dylan continued playing Zack in The Suite Life on Deck, which premiered in 2008. The spin-off moved the story to a cruise ship and introduced additional characters, including those played by Debby Ryan, Matthew Timmons and Doc Shaw. Dylan also reprised his role in The Suite Life Movie in 2011.

After the television franchise ended, Dylan stepped away from acting to attend university. This decision let him pursue his academic interests and explore opportunities outside the entertainment industry. He later returned to acting with roles that differed from the family-oriented sitcoms that had made him famous.

In 2017, Dylan appeared in the thriller Dismissed, playing Lucas Ward, a student whose relationship with his teacher becomes increasingly disturbing. The role demonstrated his interest in darker stories and characters.

He later appeared in Banana Split (2018), After We Collided (2020), Tyger Tyger (2021), and The Curse of Turandot (2021). In After We Collided, he played Trevor Matthews alongside Josephine Langford and Hero Fiennes Tiffin.

In 2022, he starred in the romantic comedy My Fake Boyfriend as Jake, a young man who helps a friend move on from an unhealthy relationship. The film also featured Keiynan Lonsdale, Sarah Hyland and Samer Salem.

Dylan gained further attention in Beautiful Disaster (2023), where he played Travis Maddox opposite Virginia Gardner, who played Abby Abernathy. He returned for the sequel, Beautiful Wedding (2024), reuniting with Gardner and other cast members.

His 2024 film work also included The Duel, a dark comedy about friends whose dispute escalates into a deadly challenge. Dylan starred as Colin and served as an executive producer. The film featured Callan McAuliffe, who played one of his central co-stars.

Other projects in his recent acting career include Aftermath (2024), where he played Eric Daniels alongside Mason Gooding and Megan Stott, and Under Fire (2025), where he played Griff. He also appeared in Neglected (2025), starring alongside Josh Duhamel.

Dylan’s entertainment work expanded in 2026 when he launched Wildmen, a podcast he co-hosts with longtime friend Brendan Columbus. The show features informal conversations about entertainment, personal experiences, unusual interests and everyday life. Guests include KJ Apa, Camila Mendes, and JoJo Siwa, and Cole Sprouse has also appeared.

The podcast has given Dylan another way to connect with audiences beyond film and television. Its conversational format draws on his friendships and entertainment experiences rather than focusing exclusively on promotional interviews.

Dylan has also pursued entrepreneurship through All-Wise Meadery, a business associated with his interest in mead-making. Mead is an alcoholic drink made by fermenting honey and water. He became involved in brewing and the business side of the venture, developing an identity outside his acting career.
